Product Review: Makeup Revolution Ultra Blush Palette

So when it comes to makeup, I’m a firm believer in mixing and matching between high-end products and drugstore products. I like to buy high-end products when it comes to every-day staples that can really affect your entire look, (such as a long-lasting foundation or a highlighter) and drugstore products when it comes to things that can be worn in a variety of colors (such as lipsticks and blushes).

When I saw this blush palette by Makeup Revolution, I was instantly intrigued. 8 different shades of blushes, and good sized ones at that, for $10? That is an insanely great value. I’ve had both good and bad experiences with drugstore blushes (sometimes they just aren’t very pigmented or easily blendable) but I thought I would go for it anyways.

Um guys. You should go buy this now. I have the Hot Spice palette (it comes in another set of shades) and I am obsessed with pretty much every shade (my favorites are definitely on the top row but I love pretty much all of them). Here are swatches of all 8 shades (L: Top Row, R: Bottom Row).

They look beautiful on the skin and are so pigmented and easily build-able. I will say that they are a bit difficult to blend, so if you do apply it, just be careful with the amount at first and just add more if you want more color. The ones that have shimmer aren’t overpoweringly sparkly and the baked ones are easy to get on the brush. I have really no complaints and I can’t wait to go back to Ulta and look at more of Makeup Revolution’s products (I actually swatched this highlighter last time I was there and I think I want to go back and get it – it was so pigmented).

I had been on the hunt for new blushes for a while, and I can’t tell you how satisfying it was to find affordable ones that didn’t make me feel guilty about buying them (although I hardly ever end up ever feeling guilty about buying makeup). I highly recommend you try them out or at least go to a retailer (I think only Ulta sells them) and swatch them.

When it comes to makeup, what products do you tend to search for in drugstores versus high-end retailers? I’m still on the lookout for a peachy-coral blush color, so if you have any blush recommendations, especially for summer, let me know!
