The end of August is always bittersweet for me. It’s a reminder that the end of summer is near but it’s also a reminder that my birthday is coming up! (September 7th for anyone that wants to know). August has been an amazing month full of adventure and laughter, and also a lot of downtime. Here were some of my “must-haves” that kept me both busy and relaxed.
Book of the Month: Who Do You Love
I recently downloaded Audible and the first book was free, which gave me actual incentive to actually read a book this summer! Some errands I do don’t necessarily involve a lot of focus and being able to “read” a book hands free is really helpful when it comes to multi-tasking. I downloaded the book Who Do You Love by Jennifer Weiner and it focuses on the encounters that two individuals have with each other throughout their lives. So far it is really enjoyable and meaningful. If you’re looking for an easy summer book to read, definitely consider it!
App of the Month: Yummly
This app is similar to Pinterest but focuses solely on food and I have recently been constantly on it. Each recipe has been taken from the web and usually has the calories (which I love) attached as well. They also just added a new feature that delivers the ingredients to you and you can cater the app’s settings to your needs. I have been wanting to try out new recipes so that when I move out I can actually cook for myself. This app has been really helpful for me with finding different meal inspirations and most importantly, it’s free!
TV Show of the Month: Big Brother
I am a big fan of Big Brother and have become even more obsessed this summer after trying out the live feeds. For those of you who have never watched, a group of people are stuck in a house and compete with each other until one person is left with $500,000. The live feeds allow you to watch them 24/7, which is what makes it a real reality show. The best part is that it’s on 3 nights a week so I don’t have to wait a whole week to get my fill of the show.
Candle of the Month:
Anyone that knows me knows that I am obsessed with candles. And that is no exaggeration. I love Bath and Body Works candles and this month I have been reaching towards their candle, Endless Weekend. It is the perfect summer candle and smells like coconut and the beach. And it helps that it is such a pretty candle! I love it so much that I don’t even want to finish it, which is kind of a problem since my candle collection is a tad absurd…
Health Tip of the Month: Stay Hydrated
It has been crazy hot over the past few weeks in Massachusetts and I’ve been trying to make sure I stay hydrated every day. Drinking 8 glasses of water is pretty hard but if you keep track of how many you’ve had it makes it a little easier to reach your goal. Not only is it good to prevent dehydration, drinking a lot of water helps keep your skin clear, keeps you energized, and is really good if you’re trying to diet (like me).
I’d love to hear what you guys have been obsessing over this past month! And if you have any candle suggestions please let me know (I’m looking to upgrade my collection…). Here’s to an even better September!
